This North American native perennial sunflower will add height (read: privacy) and sunny yellow flowers to the backdrop of your garden. Your pollinators will be all about it; deer should leave it alone. Helianthus maximiliani is related to the sunchoke, and it is edible, but unlike H. tuberosus, it won't take over your garden.
